I am very excited to announce that one of the region’s largest African cultural events is coming up in June. The Village, A West African Rhythm and Dance Collective, will be performing on:
Friday, June 20th – 7:30 pm
PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF THE ARTS,
LINCOLN PERFORMANCE HALL
1620 SW Park Avenue – Portland, OR 97201
Celebrate with us the music and dance of diverse West African nations, presented by artists from the Portland African and African American community. Three distinct groups of drummers and dancers will perform traditional music that builds bridges to the history of their peoples. Get ready to be enchanted by the amazing artistry of the Baramakono drummers, the vibrant elegance of the Sébé Kan dancers and the pure, joyful energy of the children who are part of Kúkátónón. You will not only be entertained – through your ticket purchases you will be part of a diverse community that supports and sustains the arts and arts education in Portland.
Tickets: $27 Adult / General Public • $12 Youth (17 & Under) $5 with Oregon Trail Card shown at box office.
